Our community has put in so much collective effort in between jobs, families, and other responsibilities to make this dream come true! But before we started talking about investors and community projects, one person had a vision in the back of their mind that led us to this amazing project today! Nettle Honey (she/they) has been at the root of this adventure. A childhood dream has turned real life, stringing together everything she was passionate about into one incredible project.
Below you will meet just some of the people who put a few of their spare moments together and encouraged Nettle to “just one more chapter” a project worth fighting for. Together, with community support and a lot of audacity, they were able to put together a dream her younger self would be so proud of: the story of Lavender’s Lounge.

Hey y’all, I’m Nettle!
When I was a girl, the pages of my books were my escape and together, they raised me. As often as I could, I would disappear into incredible worlds where each character lived a life worthy of great efforts. The witches, mages, librarians, and other story tellers I’ve grown to love whispered in my ear, encouraging me to create the world I wanted. So I did! I am proud of Lavender’s Lounge and the many, many people who helped create a magical place where each person can live freely when they walk through our doors. Thank you <3
Meet Taryn!
The very words your reading would not be possible without Taryn! She has been immensely supportive with her tech skills and building this website! She designed the logo, constantly supported me by providing valuable feedback, and was the main reason we were able to move forward so quickly, thanks to her digital support. It’s not possible to thank her enough! If you’d like to thank her personally, she is a piercer in Raleigh and is constantly creating beautiful art whenever the passion strikes!

Meet The Six Little Pierogies!
When I look back at who was there to support me from just a concept to open doors, The Six Little Pierogies will always be at the top of that list. Originally a trivia team name, that group of weird queer folx in Durham quickly became the most educated and excited support group I have ever been a part of. With their help, I was able to put together the confidence, delusion, and resources to make Lavender’s Lounge a reality.

Meet Matt!
After being states away for over a year, our reunion at Might As Well turned my life completely upside down. Casually mentioning a business idea right before he walked out the door was the best decision I have ever made. Matt immediately jumped into big brother mode and showed me the encouragement I needed to really think Lavender’s Lounge was a possibility. Originally a retirement dream, Matt brought youth to my idea and we’ve been rolling ever since! Thank you for all you have done with your support and guidance.
