What we are building
Together we are creating a book themed third space for travelers, artists, book lovers, and queer folks to build community with those from around the world. We house events hosted by locals, artists, and community members. Think summer camp x library!
New spaces
Our community has longed for a place not centered around alcohol and open to the public for gathering. Our space is your space! Sit in the living room surrounded by the books that raised us as we support local artists, authors, and creatives in this freshly designed space!
What we offer
Our bed and breakfast is communal-style living mixed with the peace only a library has to offer. Each room is themed to a different personality while maintaining the comfort and relaxation of luxury vacations. Between academic, artistic, cottage, Gothic, tree house, and more, we have the room to fit your style!
So who/what are we exactly?
Welcome! We are a bed and breakfast coming to Durham, North Carolina that specializes in building relationships between queer folx from around the world. We wanted to host low-to-no-cost events while providing a space for travelers to rest their heads at the end of the night. Visitors are welcome and encouraged to build bonds with new friends and take a piece of their adventure home via paintings, books, and other art available by local artists. What we have here is a unique experience designed with neurodivergent brains in mind. We hope to see you pull a book off our shelves and dive into the world waiting for you between the pages!

Our timeline
We are in the beginning phases of creating this space for you. We are building from the ground up in every capacity. Our owner works full time as well as creating this new world one day at a time. Together, our community is supporting us in all the ways they can. We couldn’t do this without them.
Currently, we are building the foundations of our social media, our connections with local businesses, and raising funds to buy property. This is a community effort coming together for the community. Once we finish building our basics, we will move on to finding investors. Check out our section Seeking: Community Support to learn more!

This is a passion project. We are working between late nights, long shifts, and laundry folding to make this dream a reality. We are normal, hard-working people pulling together the resources we have available.

Our values
Lavender’s Lounge is a space open to all. We value people who operate out of love for people different from us. We center the queer experience here. You will find a variety of people at Lavender’s Lounge with an equal amount of personalities and life experiences. We encourage you to ask a few questions, lean into the strangeness, share some experiences, and gather in community.

We may be new in concept, but we are satisfying a deep need that’s been around for ages: we need more third spaces not centered around alcohol. There’s no way we can do this without the support of our community. So many of our lives didn’t begin with the support or community we have created here at Lavender’s Lounge. Instead, we had to find our peace in the stories that raised us. Now it’s our time to live those stories. Join us for our queer summer camps, winter rejuvenation retreats, spring sleep-ins, fall fall-in-love with reading again hide-out, and many, many more events. Together is the best place to be.
